Apparently it is animal week at ThirtyTwoTwentyKnits. If you consider Minnie Mouse an animal...which she technically is.
As mentioned in the last post, the husband is taking me to WDW in July and since he told me, my brain has been all Disney, all the time. So I found some Minnie inspiration and whipped out a crochet appliqué mouse complete with red polka dotted bow (I could have done a crochet bow...but I found these cute red little bows lurking in my box of non-yarn craftiness.)
I thought it would be far too cute on a headband. As soon as hubby saw, he asked with a smirk on his face and just a hint of sarcasm in his voice, "So...you're going to wear that at Disney World?"
To which I promptly responded, "Heavens yes!" ...and I will too.
Then - not realizing I was starting an animal theme...I found some cute owl hat inspirations and went for it. "Character" or animal hats wear me out. Sock monkey hat - one of the cutest thing I have ever made...don't know if I will ever make one again unless someone I really love asks me to. They require lots of little motifs that have to be sewn on...and don't even get me started on all the ends to weave in (I know, I know...I'm a wimp). But the owl hat seemed like a project I could tackle...and I am glad I did...I think it turned out pretty darn cute!
The one pictured is a newborn size and done in pinks, ivory, greys, and blue.
Let me know if there is anything you can't live without!
