A nudge and a prayer

Last night my husband encouraged me to finally get an Etsy Shop...so I said a little prayer, got my courage up, and this morning got it rolling! There are only about 8 items in the shop right now - a mixture of items that are already made and ready to ship as soon as someone orders and then items that are made when you order (to your specifications, of course!) That way, I can play with the different settings, etc.

I have a decent amount of stock that I want to get up there. But I really want to either make or buy one of those light boxes that make your items photograph really well! I am sure there is a technical name...I don't know it yet. But I want one

I am excited about this new little step. I am hoping it is just one more way to get the word out.

Here are a couple of springy fashion scarves that I recently made and posted on Facebook (and one of them today on etsy!) - they are made out of really lightweight, novelty type yarn...so nothing that will warm you per se, but will keep you looking very stylish!

Spring Photo Shoot!

Spring is upon us...I can feel it! Especially since we just turned our heat off here at The 3220. And I have been dreaming of getting some new pics for the blog and Facebook page here soon. So I was thinking, since I have a show coming up in late April, let's do this thing! A Spring Photoshoot!!!

Way back when, I did a Fall Photo shoot with some of the cutest little ladies in all of OKC. Now they are all growing like weeds and as cute as ever! Since then my yarny skills have changed and improved, etc. It is definitely time to take some more pictures!

So this is how this will work...life is busy. I totally get that. If this is something you or your kiddos are interested in...let me know when YOU are available and we will get it set up. Last time we made a party of it and had lots of kiddos all at the same time...which was super fun...but I totally understand this is a busy time of the year.

What's in it for you?

In exchange for the use of your lovely mug on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, this blog, and at my shows...I'll make you a free something...whatever you want...within reason, I'm talking a hat or a headband or a scarf or something like that...no free afghans or sweaters :-) When we set up the time you want to come, I will get some ideas of what you are wanting and have it done in time for the shoot!

How long will the shoot take?

Honestly...probably no more than 15 or 20 minutes...maybe less. You'll model your free something and a few other things in stock...and you'll be on your way.

Where is this happening?

Usually my front yard...but if you have some other fun ideas, we can talk.

Can you have copies of the pics?

Sure! If I am taking pics of your kiddos, and you want a disc (or you just want to snag them on Facebook), feel free! I am taking this with my iPhone 5 and editing them with Snapseed (probably) - so I am not promising anything super fabulously amazing...but free.

The Goal:

To get as many takers by April 24th (my spring show is April 27th). Babies. Kids. Girls. Boys. Adults. Teens. Whoever!

(Remember ... Free yarny stuff!)

Ready....Go!

(almost) Spring Cleaning

While the weather here in OKC waffles between winter and spring, we are starting to get into some spring cleaning at The 3220. Prepping for an exciting vacation this summer, out of town guests in a few weeks, and trying to have a baby (since forever it feels like some days) gets a girl into nesting mode, I guess. So we have been tearing down, reorganizing, storing, un-storing, cleaning, and sorting for the last couple of weeks. It has been extremely productive - and there is still so much more to do. When you choose to move into a historic home with decently small square footage, you have to get creative.

As we begin to hope and pray more fervently for a baby to be on the way, we have begun to clear the room we plan on making the nursery. That room has up until a few days ago housed all of my knitting and crochet supplies (yarn, hooks, needles, current stock, books, etc). But it takes up A LOT of space. So eventually, when The Nursery is a nursery, Crochet Central will need to be moved. And I thought, "No time like the present!"

So I got the chance to clear a space in our upstairs that I lovingly call The Book Nook. The Book Nook is the space above our living room and below the highest peak on our roof. So we are talking narrow width, sloped ceilings, tons of built in shelving and a tiny window that overlooks our lovely street. It is quite charming.

Years ago, our upstairs was cut into and changed from attic space to a medium sized room, a bathroom (that used to be a very tight full bath and now we are changing it to a normal sized half bath), and The Book Nook. We spend very little time up there. Partially because it is a little messy...but also because we have a great sized living room and bedrooms downstairs...we just don't make it up there very often. But I have a sneaky feeling I will be venturing up there a little more now...because The Book Nook IS NOW CROCHET CENTRAL!!!! Hooray!

The only thing it is missing is some legit seating...so, don't worry - a massive 7 foot bean bag love seat is on it's way to my house and my heart. Adam wanted to know if he would ever see me again after I got it.
I told him I didn't know.

I have also squeezed some time in between all the boxing and unboxing and reorganization to crochet a little. I whipped this guy up after watching a popular Pixar film and being inspired by a funny little monster :-)

Then my loyal Facebook fans started ordering away and I rocked out three earwarmer headwraps and a beanie in a few short days and got them sent away to blustery Indiana.

I know Miss Courtney will look so cute wearing this all over the IU campus in Bloomington...or as my brother and all his cool friends say, "B-Town."

...Wanetta and Kathryn, enjoy your earwarmers. I pray the best for your friend and hope she enjoys her cozy beanie. I went for the cheeriest colors I could find!

I also just sent a sweet sweater and earflap hat to my cousin in Indiana. She will send it along to a new little family member being born in May in Argentina! Dani...please send pics of this precious little one in her crocheted cuteness!

I have THE best fans, friends, and family!
